Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymph drainage (MLD) is a gentle, yet powerful technique that increases the efficiency and effectiveness of your lymphatic system.  Not to be confused with traditional massage, which treats the muscles and other connective tissues; MLD treats your lymphatic system by applying light, pumping strokes on the superficial portion of the skin to stimulate the lymphatic vessels.

MLD can benefit people with lymphedema, swelling, fatigue, insomnia, arthritis, pain, stress, digestive disorders and fibromyalgia to name a few.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the application of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction.  Clinically, trigger points are easily identified as painful areas in a muscle.  This is usually due to the overloading or incorrect loading of the muscle.  Trigger Point Therapy can be very effective in treating a variety of conditions such as migraines, back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain and tennis elbow to name a few.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy is highly effective for clients who present with chronic pain and is often successful in reducing or eliminating even longstanding painful conditions. NMT is a highly-specialized form of manual therapy that corrects pain and dysfunction by treating trigger points, muscle adhesions, and fascial (connective tissue) patterns. Neuromuscular treatments are rarely full-body; the work is concentrated on the primary and secondary areas of the body that are causing the pain you are experiencing, and limiting range of motion.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is one of the most commonly known massage techniques.  The technique aims to promote relaxation by increasing circulation of blood and oxygen, while decreasing any muscle toxins or tension.  It is often used in combination with other massage techniques.

Cupping

By creating suction and vacuum pressure, cupping is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways.

Pre/Postnatal Massage

Prenatal massage during a women’s pregnancy is performed on a pregnancy cushion or side lying if necessary.  Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling).  Postnatal massage is massage after pregnancy.  Some benefits include; relieving soreness and muscle tension from labor stress reduction, overall pain relief, decreased swelling, re-establishes pelvis structural integrity and relieves neck and shoulder pain from caring for a newborn.

Gua Sha

Gua sha is an ancient healing technique.  Massage lotion is applied and a smooth edged instrument is used to apply short or long strokes on the skin; typically in the area of pain.  This motion creates raised redness (sha).  Raising sha removes blood stagnation, increases blood flow, reduces pain and stimulates the immune system.  Modern research shows that the raised sha produces an anti inflammatory and immune protective effect that persists for days following a single Gua sha treatment accounting for the immediate relief that patients feel from pain and stiffness.
